The magic of this recipe lies in its balance. Delicate brick pastry bakes or fries into a thin, shattering crispness that gives way to a warm, juicy filling of shrimp sautéed with garlic, herbs, and spices. The shrimp brings a natural sweetness, the garlic adds depth and fragrance, and the splash of lemon brightens everything with fresh acidity. Combined with the subtle heat of paprika and the freshness of parsley and chives, the filling becomes a beautifully seasoned mixture that shines without overpowering the palate.
These shrimp cigars also stand out for how versatile and effortless they are. They require only a handful of ingredients and a few minutes of preparation, yet the result looks impressive enough for entertaining guests. You can bake them for a lighter, healthier version or fry them for an extra-crisp, indulgent touch. Either way, they emerge golden, crunchy, and beautifully aromatic — the kind of snack that disappears within minutes of hitting the table.

Preparation :
1. Prepare the stuffing:
Roughly chop the shrimp into small pieces.
In a pan, heat the olive oil. Fry the garlic for a few seconds until fragrant (without burning it).
Add the chopped shrimp, paprika, salt, pepper and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes (the shrimp should be just cooked).
Remove from heat, add the parsley, chives and lemon juice. Mix well and let cool slightly.
2. Forming the cigars:
Take a sheet of brick pastry, cut it in half if it is very large.
Place a spoonful of shrimp stuffing at one end.
Fold the sides inwards and then roll tightly to form a nice cigar.
Seal with a little melted butter or water.
3. Cooking:
Brush the cigars with melted butter or oil.
(Optional) Sprinkle with sesame seeds for an even prettier look.
Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Oven baking: 200°C (fan oven) for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
Or deep fry: fry them quickly in hot oil until golden brown.
Gourmet tips:
Serve these cigars piping hot with a light sauce made from yogurt, lemon and chives, or a hot sauce for those who like it!
You can add some grated cheese (like mozzarella) to the filling for extra creaminess.
(Optional) Sprinkle with sesame seeds for an even prettier look.
